Snowmen at night by Caralyn Buehner

It finally snowed! How many happy children are listening? How many snowmen will I see tonight on my way home? It brought to mind one of my favourite children’s stories, Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner with artwork by Mark Buehner. I like the Snowman series because it is charming and entertaining for both children and those who are reading to them.

This book answers the question What do snowmen do at night?

Did you know that while children are asleep, the snowmen slip away to have a wonderful time. They wander down the street looking for their friends, drink hot cocoa made by snowmen mothers, go skating and perform amazing tricks on the ice, and have snowball fights and go toboganning down the highest hill in town. With the dawn each snowman returns home looking a little bedraggled.

It’s the stunning artwork that makes these books so perfect for sharing. Each snowman exudes warmth, personality and charm, and half the fun is looking for the small details on each page. Drop by and pick up a children’s book to celebrate the winter wonderland out there this week.
