Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett; Illustrated by Jon Klassen

Extra Yarn is an excellent book to read out loud, the pictures are simple, appealing and funny.

The story of Annabelle, her dog Mars and the box of yarn that she finds and uses to knit items to warm up her cold little town is heroic and magical in a quiet way.

There are not a lot of words, but the story is rich with meaning, and leaves space for speculation, conversation, and laughter.

Like the illustrations it is simple, funny, appealing, and has a very satisfying ending.

This book was enjoyed by all and the reviewer was amazed at how engaged the children were with the story no matter what their age.
