Shadow Play by Iris Johansen

Sheriff John Nalchek calls forensic sculptor Eve Duncan to ask her to do a reconstruction job on the skull of a nine-year-old girl who was found in a hidden grave.

The sheriff is certain that if Eve can provide a face for him to work with he can discover the girl’s identity and killer.  Eve agrees to work on the skull immediately.  As she works on the skull she senses the girl trying to communicate with her and even views her apparition.

The plot thickens when the Fed Ex agent is murdered and the reconstructed skull is stolen on its way back to the sheriff. Eve and her partner Joe Quinn join Sheriff Nalchek in trying to solve the case. There are many twists and turns.   Johansen keeps you guessing right to the last few pages as to “who done it?”
