City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong

In the northern wilderness there is a secret town cut off from all forms of civilization. It’s where people go to disappear, some from abusive relationships, some to escape their past, but even good people do bad things.

Casey Duncan a former police detective ends up in Rockton with her own secret past and is promised a spot for her friend only if she follows certain conditions of employment. Rockton has recently had its first real homicide and the town council is desperate to get their local sheriff the help he needs.

Now with a killer on the loose and danger lurking in the forest that surrounds them, Casey must solve the case before it’s too late and someone close to her becomes the next victim. The reviewer thoroughly enjoyed this book, if you’re looking for a great psychological thriller head to your local branch and request City of the Lost!
