Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright; illustrated by Stephen Gilpin

Sneezy the snowman is cold and while trying to find different ways to warm up, hilarity ensues and Sneezy starts to melt. The children in the book are very helpful, and in the end, Sneezy the Snowman at last feels... “Just right.”

This picture book is a great book to read together with your young child or with a large group.  The author has created an appealing blend of silliness and read-aloud exuberance in her rhyming text and the illustrations are a wonderful compliment to the descriptive words explaining how Sneezy the Snowman sneezes and freezes and shivers, too.

The Leaving by Tara Altebrando

Six kindergartners go missing without a trace, the police have no answers and the families are devastated. Eleven years later five of the children return.

Now sixteen years old, the children seem fine, but are unable to recall where they have been all this time or who took them in the first place, and none of the kids seem to remember Max, the one child that didn’t return with the others.

As the mystery unfolds you get a glimpse into the families that were left behind, and as details emerge about their disappearance no one is prepared for the truth.

Told from several points of view this fast-paced novel will keep you engaged right till the end. If this Young Adult novel seems intriguing, head into your local branch and request a copy!

The Son by Jo Nesbo

After finding his father dead with a suicide note beside his gun, Sonny loses his mother to drink and despair and then himself to drugs. Admitting to crimes he didn’t commit, Sonny finds himself serving time in prison leaving behind what could have been a great career in wrestling.

Sonny finds out some long-hidden truths one day in his prison cell, which causes him to escape and exact vengeance on those who wronged him. A police officer and the best friend of his father, tries to capture Sonny before the criminal elements in the story can hunt him down first.

The Son, by Jo Nesbo, is a riveting story about loss and redemption.
